US seizure of Iranian ships, Iran protests to the United Nations
Iran has lodged a protest with the United Nations over the United States’ seizure of Iranian vessels.
According to foreign media, in a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, Iran described the blockade as piracy at sea.
Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, said that such behavior amounts to illegal coercion, interference in international trade, and unlawful seizure of property.
They also emphasized that, according to international law, Iran has the full right to respond to these actions.
Amir Saeed demanded from the Secretary-General of the United Nations that he should strongly condemn the American actions of seizing Iranian commercial ships and oil tankers, and that these ships should be released immediately.
